Pets add life-Why I love being a dog mom

Today, me the mom, is taking over the blog to tell you why I love being a dog mom, and the joy I get from these two funny furry dogs in our home.

I have owned a lot of pets in all my years. We had a cat when I was really young that would curl up inside the bed and sleep right next to me. When I grew up and moved out, cats where the pets of choice, mostly because they are easier to leave alone when you have to work all day every day. I always had 2 at a time, so they could keep each other company. I had fish for several years too. They are pretty low maintenance, and fun to have around.
When I became a home owner, and a mom, it seemed like the right time to have a dog. My boys where small when we got Lady, an Aussie mix. She was in our family for 14 years and brought so much joy and companionship with her. She is now over the rainbow bridge, waiting, and having fun till I get there.

7 1/2 years ago I got Roxy. She has brought so much joy into my life, I can’t imagine not having her around.  She has such a funny little personality that she loves to share with anyone and everyone, as you know from reading this blog.

Torrey came into our lives 1 /2 years ago, and what a riot she has been. When she was still a young pup, we would laugh ourselves silly had her antics.

To say that pets add life to your life, is an understatement. I have always enjoyed being a pet mom. The unconditional love, and joy that pets provide is undeniable. They don’t care if you have been gone 5 minutes, or 5 hours, they are just thrilled that you’re home. It’s the best welcome home reception, unless your arms are full of groceries or something.  ;-)
Pets understand when you’re sick and are always good for a cuddle on the couch to make you feel better. When I had surgery on my knee a few years ago, Roxy was my constant companion. She took the pain away simply by laying close, and cuddling in.
Roxy and Torrey have made me laugh, cry with worry, and feel so blessed that I have them in my life.

The Pets add Life campaign is all about bringing awareness to the joys of pet ownership. Through their facebook page, youtube videos, and blog they are getting the message out on responsible pet ownership, and how Pets add Life. I think this is an incredibly important message to convey. Pet ownership is not only fun, but has many health benefits too.  And if pets are taken care of responsibly, the life of the pet, and the joy they give, can go on for many years.

This post is sponsored by the Pets Add Life campaign and the American Pet Products Association. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about the benefits and joys of pet ownership.

Today is also a great fun blog hop, Monday Mischief. Join in the fun and say hello to fellow pet lovers.
