Coco Therapy- Review and giveaway

I am a big fan of coconut oil. There are numerous health benefits to the consumption of pure virgin coconut oil for people and dogs.
Promotes normal thyroid function.
Reduces allergic reaction, and improves skin health.
It strengthens your immune system.
It improves your digestion and metabolism.
And it’s a great source of anti-oxidants.
So given all these great benefits, and the fact that I know how great it’s been for me, I contacted the Coco therapy company about doing a review.
Coco therapy uses 100% pure virgin coconut oil in their product. They also have these great organic coconut chips to feed as a snack. They dogs love them, I think it’s maybe like doggie candy to them. Only healthier, and very good for them.
I wanted to try the coconut oil for both dogs for different reasons. The last time I had Roxy at the vet, he thought maybe her difficulty losing weight could be thyroid. She also has a weird thin patch of hair on her back. She’s had it for over a year now, it doesn’t bother her in anyway, but I was a little worried. He thought that could be thyroid related too. Obviously her weight is not horrid, so I really didn’t want to put her on meds that I can’t afford.
Torrey, is very wooly. And because she has such a thick coat, it tends to dry out, also her skin seems a little itchy. The air is very dry here in the winter, I know it dries me out. Another benefit with regard to the skin is that if their skin is healthy, it can prevent insect bites. I worry about biting flies and ticks on Torrey.
So, given these two minor issues with the dogs, I wondered if they couldn’t benefit from the coconut oil. I started them at the recommended daily dose. Which isn’t very much. Since this is an oil, starting small and working your way up is recommended. They can get lose stools, or an upset tummy if too much is given too fast. I didn’t have this problem with either dog.
Roxy gets about 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon and Torrey gets a tablespoon every day. I haven’t given them more than this, they don’t seem to really need more. I scoop out the amount they need for the day, and just put it with their kibble every morning. They love it!! Both of them know the sound of the jar opening, they will sit and stare at me until I feed them.
They have been getting the Coco therapy for about a month now.  Roxy seems like she has trimmed off a couple of ounces, that was all she really needed to lose. And her coat is sure nice and soft. She still has the thin spot, but that could just be the way she is. (Her tail curls right there)
Torrey, has a much nicer coat. It doesn’t feel as dry, and it’s softer and silkier. She doesn’t seem to be as itchy either. And if it helps with the battle against ticks and those little biting flies, I’ll be thrilled.
So onto the giveaway. The wonderful people at Coco Therapy want to give one lucky winner a 16 oz jar of the virgin coconut oil, and a bag of the coconut chips.  US entrants only.

  9. I started giving Elka coconut oil when I saw how cheap I could find it (and organic!) and my local Wal Mart. I’d given her olive oil on her food prior to that, but wow, I call her my coconut oil “junkie”. If I just put it solid on her food, she’ll just eat the solid bit, so I melt it in the microwave first and pour it around. I didn’t know that there were coconut chips as well, that’t awesome!

  10. I’m a big fan of using coconut oil products for skin issues as well as the fact that it’s antibacterial and promotes good digestion. Dogs really seem to love it so it must be good!

  11. Oooh

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  13. My pup would love this!! we supplement her diet with salmon oil for some of the same benefits.

  14. We use coconut oil in our raw diet and the dogs love it! I also use it to help as a moisturizer on my hairless rats- hows that for a story, right? I have never heard of the coconut chips before but if I don’t win I might have to get a bag anyway!
