Artsy Fartsy Tuesday-Lou Belcher
I was introduced to Lou Belcher’s art by last weeks artist, Sheila. And then I thought…how come I have never ran across her blog before? We both have a pet blog, so therefore have the same interests and run in the same circles. But, it doesn’t matter much now, I found her art, and really like it!!
Lou Belcher lives in Florida and enjoys spending equal time on her writing and artistic endeavors. Known for painting whimsical cat faces, she also spends an equal amount of time on pen and ink drawings. She is part of the Riverview Art Studios and Gallery where she works almost daily. A portion of the proceeds from all her writing and art work goes to the SPCA of North Brevard.
Much of Lou’s time is spent writing. Her most recent book is a memoir of her cat called The Zen of Max (a memoir of great wisdom and many naps).
Lou has four active blogs. Two are personal blogs. One is about her cats:. Max, Bugsy and Knuckles. It chronicles their adventures and misadventures and is an outlet for her cat art. The other is to help writers learn their craft and is called Before You Write. She is also the editor of Brevard Art News and Florida Book News. She invented these two blogs to serve the creative community by spreading the word about writing and art events.
You will most often find Lou covered in paint and buried in fur. As she says, “That’s the way I like it. Life is good here in paradise.”
Lou is available to do portraits, more information can be found on her blog, Max the quilt cat. You need to visit the blog anyway, lots of cuteness going on over there.

Does the gray cat up there look familiar? That’s CODY!!!! We have known Lou for nearly as long as we have been blogging!!! We LOVE that painting of Cody and we LOVE LOU! If you read Cat Chat you would have come across her (wink) !! I featured her painting a few weeks ago and I reviewed her fabulous book about 2 years ago. She is the BEST! So glad to see her here!

What a wonderful feature! I met Lou (virtually) a couple years ago during the Blogville Christmas Card Exchange. We even took Flat Max with us to Greyhounds At Gettysburg. I love her kitty art, but didn’t know about her other websites!
