Artsy Fartsy Tuesday 7/5/11-Abigail Hephzibah

Today’s Artsy Fartsy artist is a young lady from the UK, Abigail Hephzibah. She creates very beautiful handmade cards. I love the colors and the designs of her work. She sells her cards through her blog/website.

Abaigail is 21 and just getting started in the art world. I think she will go a long way. She answered a couple questions for me about herself, and there is a lot more information on her website. So be sure to visit her site.

1. How long have you been creating your art?

I’ve been creating art since I attended a local art group where I had the opportunity to explore different types of art.  Prior to that I had mostly drawn with a plain or coloured pencil but it gave me the chance to try out painting on canvas using palette knives, and I found that I really enjoyed it.

2.Why did you choose your particular medium?

I chose to make cards after I received a pack of fifty blank cards and envelopes from my mother as a Christmas present.  She had noticed how much I was enjoying the art group and thought I might like to create some more at home.  I started by using some of the designs that I’d made in the art group, and it developed from there

3.Are you working on something new?
I recently bought my first sewing machine, so I’m currently working on being a better seamstress so that I can make some material items, such as bags, as well as looking into making jewellery in the future, like the ring featured on my homepage.  I also have new card designs that are currently being unleashed in stages!
